Gibson Hatch

Attorney Gibson Hatch began his legal career as an Assistant State Public Defender in Columbia County, Wisconsin, where he litigated every type of criminal case from low-level misdemeanor to high-level felony. He worked on every aspect of criminal cases from initial appearance to trial and sentencing. After leaving the Public Defender’s office Attorney Hatch joined a private criminal defense firm in Madison. There he continued to work on all types of criminal cases and expanded his practice to encompass representation prior to the issuance of charges as well as first offense OWIs.

Attorney Hatch’s client-centered approach to legal representation ensures that he is dedicated to obtaining the best possible outcomes for his clients. His perseverance, creativity, and attention to detail has led to dismissals and acquittals of both misdemeanors and felonies. Attorney Hatch handles all aspects of criminal litigation including pre-charging investigation and negotiation, motion practice, trial, and sentencing. Attorney Hatch is also frequently sought out for his experience in OWI offenses. His expertise in OWIs has enabled him to achieve often difficult to obtain dismissals, acquittals, and reckless driving amendments in OWI cases. Attorney Hatch has also been asked to teach at conferences to other attorneys on OWI defense in Wisconsin.

Attorney Hatch strongly advocates a client-centered approach. He deeply understands the impact that criminal cases can have on an individual’s life. He knows that most often defense attorneys are the only barrier between a defendant and the overwhelming power of the government. He takes his responsibility to protect his clients seriously and is never afraid to strongly and loudly advocate for his clients.

Attorney Hatch attended the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, Wisconsin, where he graduated in two and a half years. While there, he worked in the Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons (LAIP) legal clinic. His work there encompassed providing postconviction legal assistance to individuals who were incarcerated in Wisconsin.
